Typical Day

I usually arrive in the office between 7:00 and 7:30 am and catch up on overnight market activity, read various daily fixed income publications, and participate in the morning meeting.

The Corporate Debt Origination desk underwrites C$ denominated debt for both investment grade and high yield companies. One of the things I like most about my job on the trade floor is that a typical day does not exist. The majority of my time is spent supporting the senior originators in the development of new business and in the maintenance and enhancement of relationships with existing accounts. In addition, I provide back up client support for originators that are out of the office and correspond with traders, investment bankers, relationship managers and the back office.

The day is very demanding and intense - multi-tasking and prioritizing are essential skills for surviving the fast-paced environment of the trading floor.
