Typical Day

I typically arrive in the office at 7:00 am and catch up on overnight market activity, read various daily fixed income publications, and plan out my day.

The Origination & Syndication desk underwrites US dollar denominated debt for both investment grade and high yield companies. The majority of my day is spent supporting the senior originators in the development of new business and in the maintenance and enhancement of relationships with existing accounts. Additionally, I liaise with the corporate bankers to ensure that they are kept up-to-date on the capital markets activities of their clients. On the syndication side, I perform due diligence on companies launching new deals and correspond with other members of the syndicate.

Multi-tasking and prioritizing are essential skills for surviving the fast-paced environment on the trading floor. It took me a while to adjust to a trading floor environment, but now I cannot imagine working in a place without that energy.
