Career Path
I graduated in 1997 from Escuela de Ingeniería de Antioquia in Colombia, with a B.Eng. in Civil Engineering and worked as a structural engineer for seven years developing commercial and residential buildings in Latin America. While I found great satisfaction in my accomplishments as an engineer, my desire for greater challenges lead me to pursue an MBA to further develop my business skills.
Soon after enrolling in the Schulich School of Business MBA program at York University, I discovered my affinity for finance and derivatives and made the decision to relocate permanently to Canada and join Scotia Capital’s Global Sales & Trading Rotational Program. Scotia’s Rotational Program has provided me with a remarkable opportunity to gain a more in-depth understanding of Scotia Capital’s business lines and the Canadian and international capital markets. The rotation had me working alongside highly experienced professionals, learning a lot from interacting with them on live deals. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity of being part of Canada’s most international bank, and have enjoyed the rich corporate culture that this organization affords its employees.
