Career Path
I graduated from Princeton University in 2002 with a degree in economics. After having internships with Scotia Capital both in Wealth Management and on the trade floor in Foreign Exchange, I chose a full-time position with Scotia Capital in Corporate Banking in New York. I spent a year in the Technology and Electronics group as an Analyst, and was then promoted to Associate and moved to San Francisco.
Following six years of living in the US, including two years in Corporate Banking, I felt ready to move back to my home town of Toronto and pursue a graduate degree. I chose to get an MBA from the Rotman School of Management, and focused my studies on investment banking-related course work. Over the summer I worked again for Scotia Capital, this time as a Summer Associate in Investment Banking. I had a fantastic time on the 66th floor, and immediately accepted an offer at the end of the summer to return as an Associate following graduation.
Scotia Capital has given me a fantastic exposure to the financial world. I have gained an in-depth understanding of several parts of the Bank, in addition to being exposed to the multiple functional areas. I have found that professionals here are extremely eager to teach junior employees, and as a result, I have been able to learn an incredible amount in a relatively short period of time. I have been exposed to a good balance of academic theory and real-world applications, which is fundamental to a thorough understanding of how markets work. I truly believe that Scotia Capital is one of the best institutions on the Street to learn and develop as a junior banker.
