Typical Day
As seems to be the stereotype these days there is no typical day in Corporate Banking. My responsibility is to provide support to Directors on a broad portfolio of companies, primarily within the industrial and manufacturing sector. A key challenge in Corporate Banking is keeping a healthy balance between managing the day to day administration of our existing accounts while also continuing to work on new transactions that grow our asset base.
I generally begin each day with a fresh coffee and a scan through the morning’s news headlines to look for relevant articles on companies or industries within my coverage universe. My daily responsibilities include building financial models, analyzing company and industry risk, preparing written presentations, structuring loans, reviewing and negotiating loan documentation and performing due diligence. Often our clients require multi-product solutions which require us to work closely with other areas of the Bank including investment banking, M&A, foreign exchange, derivatives and structured products.
