Typical Day
My day generally begins at 7:30. The first tasks of the day are to get updated on overnight market developments and find out what is forecasted for the day.
That's where the "typical" part of my day ends. The remainder of the day is driven by what our senior marketers have on the go. It may consist of building and pricing deals, preparing marketing documents, assisting on live trades, providing back up client support for marketers that are out of the office or corresponding with corporate bankers, traders, and back office. The day is very demanding and intense - no lunch breaks, no coffee breaks - so the ability to communicate effectively, multitask and prioritize are essential.
Although my day usually wraps up around 6:30 p.m. there is not a regular quitting time on our desk. If a marketer needs a pitch for an early meeting the following morning its my job to stay until it is finished.
