Corporate Banking Associate

 

Position Highlights

Corporate Banking offers a unique career opportunity for professionals looking to blend their strong analytical and relationship skills to deliver quality credit products to a global wholesale customer base.

Associates in the Corporate Banking group enjoy a challenging work environment in which they execute a broad range credit transactions as part of a team delivering customized multi-product solutions tailored to clients' needs. Contact between new Associates and clients is encouraged at the earliest possible stage, allowing Associates to gain experience in cultivating client relationships.

Due to the multi-product nature of many corporate client requests, Associates are required to interact with other areas of the firm such as Global Risk Management, Investment Banking, M&A, Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets and Research. This provides them with exposure to a broad array of products and valuable experience in developing cross-functional communication and teamwork skills.

Requirements:

  • MBA degree to be completed by Spring 2008
  • A proven record of outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement at both the undergraduate and graduate level
  • At least two years of relevant experience in a finance or professional environment
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • In depth financial analysis
  • Preparation of credit presentations, which include financial projections; industry analysis; discussion of the company and management; analysis of specific risks and features of the various client requests
  • Providing high quality account management support to senior officers in maintaining their Corporate Banking portfolios.

Associates participate in the Capital Ideas Program, a training program developed by Scotia Capital. The program is designed to orient participants to our culture, people, products and services and to provide the skills and contacts critical for success. Team projects, individual study and social activities supplement classroom discussions.
